# Pallet Planner

> Turn one order into a pallet plan: how many pallets, which cartons go where, and the weight of each.

Source: https://docs.beetl.io/apps/pallet-planner/
Last updated: 2026-10-28

Pallet Planner turns one order into a pallet plan. Bind a dataset with one row per carton type and
the app plans how to place the cartons on pallets. It belongs to the **Logistics** category of the
[app catalogue](https://docs.beetl.io/apps#available-apps).

To use it, create an app from the Home canvas and pick **Pallet Planner** as the app type. The
steps for binding datasets, editing the input query and running the app are the same for every app.
See [Apps](https://docs.beetl.io/apps).

## Outputs

Each run publishes two datasets, replaced on every run:

| Dataset | What it holds |
| ------------ | ----------------------- |
| `summary` | The plan as a whole. |
| `placements` | Where each carton goes. |

## Limits

| Limit | Value |
| ---------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| One order per run | Every row must carry the same order, customer and pallet limits |
| Carton types | 1 to 20, each SKU once |
| Cartons per order | At most 240 |
| Pallet width and depth | 200 to 2,400 mm, default 1,200 x 800 mm |
| Cargo height | 200 to 2,400 mm, default 1,400 mm |
| Pallet weight | 1,000 to 1,500,000 g, default 600,000 g (600 kg) |
| Carton weight | 1 to 1,000,000 g |
| Currency | EUR only |

If the input breaks a rule, the run fails with a message naming the rule, and the previous outputs
stay in place. See [If a run fails or pauses](https://docs.beetl.io/apps#if-a-run-fails-or-pauses).
